HOW TO GROW WEBSITE TRAFFIC WITH PINTEREST + TAILWIND

You’ve probably been exposed to the big hype about Pinterest for business that’s circulating all over the Internet by now.

Everyone seems to be talking about it at the moment. And there’s a good reason for it. Pinterest for business works. When you use it right, it can bring massive amounts of new traffic to your site and help you grow your audience.

If you’re still not sure how to use Pinterest for business, I’ll explain exactly how to get started here in this post.

HOW TO GROW WEBSITE TRAFFIC WITH PINTEREST + TAILWIND

The first thing I want to say about Pinterest is that it’s not a social media platform. It’s actually a search engine. In other words, it’s much more like Google than Facebook.

That means you need to treat it as such. Pinterest has 250 million active monthly users, performing over 175 billion searches per year.

In addition, I think Google loves Pinterest because it often prioritizes pins in search results at the top of the page. This means more free traffic for you if you’re utilizing Pinterest correctly.

GETTING STARTED WITH PINTEREST

1. CREATE A PINTEREST BUSINESS PROFILE

Switching from a personal to a business profile is the first step you’ll need to take. If you’re been using Pinterest for personal reasons up till now and plan on using the same account, make sure to hide any personal boards you have created there. So anything that’s not relevant to your business should be converted to a secret board or deleted.

This is because your business profile needs to serve your target audience. So if you teach people how to create online courses, for example, your audience will want to see pins related to that topic. They won’t be interested in seeing your favourite crochet patterns. Get what I mean?

2. ESTABLISH A GOAL IN USING PINTEREST FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Now that your account is set up for business, think about what you want to achieve. Are you trying to educate your audience, make more sales or grow your email list?

Once you establish your main goal/s, you can start creating some boards that are relevant. Think about what you want your visitors to see when they first land on your Pinterest profile.

3. OPTIMIZE ALL OF YOUR PINTEREST BOARDS

The next thing you’ll want to do is perform keyword research and utilize your targeted keywords all over your Pinterest account.

This is super important since Pinterest is a search engine, remember? Help your audience find your content by using keywords effectively.

Start with giving each board a detailed description instead of leaving it blank. Also, each one of your pins should include a description that’s conversational, not keyword-stuffed.

Next, make sure to enable Rich Pins. Rich pins are pins that use metadata from your site to include extra information about what’s on your site. They give Pinners a better experience and increase engagement on the pin.

4. ADD CONSISTENT CONTENT CREATION TO YOUR WORKFLOW

After you’ve covered the basics, it’s time to start pinning!

Unfortunately, this isn’t one of those things that you can set up once and forget about it. For your traffic to grow from Pinterest, you actually need to be pinning A LOT. Ideally you’ll want to be pinning between 3-30 times a day. But who has time for that?

That’s where Tailwind comes in! Tailwind is a Pinterest scheduler that will save you hours of manual pinning and searching for quality content. Since I started using Tailwind to schedule my posts on Pinterest about 6 months ago, I’ve seen some major increases to my traffic every single month.

Before Tailwind, I wasn’t really using Pinterest because I didn’t have that kind of time to waste. At that time I had about 9.5k monthly viewers on Pinterest and none of them were coming to my website as far as I knew.

Now, about 6 months later, I’m getting around 300K monthly Pinterest viewers, which translates to 8% of my site traffic now coming from Pinterest. Hey, I had none from there before, so I’ll take that. What’s important to know is that these numbers have been consistently growing every month since I started.

Tailwind is the #1 reason I was able to increase my numbers like that. It also has some cool features like Smart Loop Scheduling & Tailwind Tribes to help you get the most out of your pinning strategy.

So if you haven’t started yet, I highly encourage you to give it a try. The more ways you set up to grow your website traffic, the better. And the best time to begin is NOW. You’ll thank yourself later!

By the way, if you use my referral link to sign up for Tailwind, you’ll receive ONE MONTH FREE! You’re welcome :)
