THE PHOTOS YOU MUST HAVE ON YOUR DATING PROFILE
When it comes to your dating profile, great photos are of utmost importance to get you more meaningful connections.
Most of us can’t take the best selfies, so you’re better off saving those for your Instagram fun. Usually, selfies do not provide the most flattering angles or lighting. So if you want to (literally) put your best face forward, it’s best to hire a professional photographer to take the kind of photos that will get you noticed.
I happen to have a few friends who are either currently active in online dating or have had past experience with it. Hearing them talk about how they feel about their lack of selfie skills got me thinking that I’d like to provide a solution. Hey, it’s also part of personal branding after all.
And now I will let you know about the main types of photos you must absolutely have on your dating profile (according to matchmakers).
The Classic Headshot
A typical headshot is taken from the shoulders up that focuses on just your face. It should fit a small one-inch square for your main profile that most dating sites give you. This picture is meant to lure people onto your page to learn more about you. That’s why the perfect headshot is your best bet to get those clicks and messages coming your way! It should be a photo of you smiling because that’s how you’ll appear most approachable. You’ll want this photo to be crisp and clear focusing on your best features but also appear fun (not like it was taken at a cheese photo studio).
The Full Body Shot
The full body shot is your chance to flaunt your best attributes and embrace who you really are. This photo (and all others actually) should be no more than a year old to show what you currently look like so there are no surprises. Apparently, people tend to lie on their dating profiles about what they look like. Showing you full body shot proves you’ve got nothing to hide. For this photo, you should wear an outfit that makes you feel super confident, whatever it might be. It can be dressy or casual, your pick.
The Lifestyle Shot
This photo could give someone a glimpse into what you find interesting. It’s more of a story-telling image that could be a great conversation starter. Perhaps you have a hobby you’d like them to know about? The lifestyle shot comes in handy to showcase you in action doing some of your favourite things. It could even be as simples as taking a walk on the beach.
Bonus: The Fun Shot
For this one, almost anything goes (as long as it’s appropriate). It could be another headshot or a body shot taken from a different angle. Or a lifestyle shot that shows even more of your personality. Perhaps a photo of you in a more formal outfit than the rest? Or a shot of you laughing to let others know you’re a fun person. Anything goes!
I hope you liked these tips. If you’re in need of some fresh, professionally taken photos that will include all of the above shots, get in touch with me! I’d be happy to help :)
