BRAND PHOTOSHOOT FEATURING LORRAINE CROWSTON
I recently had the pleasure of shooting branding photography for a local fiber artist, and founder of Totally Into Fibers - Lorraine Crowston.
Lorraine is a true fiber enthusiast as well as an avid spinner, knitter, crocheter, and occasional weaver. What’s really impressive is that she sources ecologically sustainable fibers, paying attention to environmentally responsible growing practices, which I really admire.
I learned a thing or two about fibers while I was capturing the behind-the-scenes of how Lorraine creates her works of art!
Like for many of us creative entrepreneurs, it all started with a strong passion for everything fiber for Lorraine. And that’s what I wanted to capture with this photoshoot - that passion behind her artistic journey.
Before I met Lorraine, I asked her some questions to help me get a deeper understanding of what she’d like to portray in the images I was going to take of her. Since she told me she does most of her work out of her living room but also loves nature, I decided to incorporate both.
I took a few shots of Lorraine in her living room with some of the tools she uses to create her products. And I also wanted to take some natural light photos outside to incorporate that nature element we both admire, so I took her out to her lovely garden for the second half of the session.
Her cute doggy joined us and of course, had to get in on the fun. :)
During the photo session, I quickly learned that we both have some things in common – we both strongly believe in community over competition and we’re both animal lovers. What’s even crazier is that we both happen to be students of Marie Forleo. We do live in a small world!
So I had a lovely time with this personal branding photo session to help Lorraine really capture who she is and what she stands for.
