3 THINGS TO UPDATE IN YOUR BUSINESS REGULARLY
As we enter a new year, we tend to get fired up about setting new goals and putting new systems in place. It’s an exhilarating feeling but sometimes it can be overwhelming.
Maybe you’ve got too many ideas all at once and find it hard to implement them all? Or maybe you don’t really know what you need to update in your business?
Well for starters, I want to simplify it for you by sharing the top 3 things you need to update not only at the start of a new year but on a regular basis. For some that might mean monthly, for others every quarter or six months. Whatever works for you is fine, just don’t let your business stagnate if you want it to grow.
I try to keep that famous phrase in mind “if you’re not growing, you’re dying”. And I choose to be growing. Are you with me?
1. WEBSITE
Is your website in need of an update? Have you had the same old tired design for years? If so, why not give it an overhaul to freshen things up for your audience?
Regular website updates will ensure your prospects that you’re in fact still in business! You don’t want anyone to think you’ve forgotten you had a website. Is it time for a re-design?
You might just give it some fresh imagery and spruce up outdated copy. And don’t forget to blog regularly to boost your SEO. Here are 3 WAYS TO FIND BLOG TOPIC IDEAS WHEN YOU’RE STUCK.
Speaking of blog posts, check your old ones to see if your graphics need an update too. Maybe your taste has changed or your skill has improved. I know this has happened to me so I made some changes myself.
2. BRANDING PHOTOS
Have you ever connected with someone online and when you met them in real life, you thought… ”this person looks nothing like the photo on their profile”? Yikes, how embarrassing! I’ve definitely witnessed that and it’s usually because that person was using a very old photo of themselves. Sometimes as old as 10 or even (gasp!) 20 years!!
When you first start your new business, it’s very important to put your best foot forward. As you launch your website and social media profiles, you’ll most likely set them up with the best photos you have representing you at that time.
But styles change, as does your business. If you redesign your site, remember that the images you originally chose may not line up with what your brand has become.
Or… if you’ve had your business for a while, it might be time for fresh, up-to-date photos that represent the current you.
If you use old photos that no longer really look like you, that disconnect can turn off possible clients and make your online presence look outdated.
Remember, good branding photography helps you create that “know, like, trust” factor.
